The Kitchen


Growing up in rural Kansas, we both were blessed with moms and grandmothers who knew how to cook a classic, All-American meal.  Becuase of our research and personal experience with a chemical-sensitive child, we have made a commitment to feeding our family all-natural, healthy, organic, unprocessed food.  We continue to experiment and add an organic, from-scratch element to the already delicious legacy of home-cooked food passed down to us.

Here are some ideas and recipes.

    Here’s one for you. I adapted a recipe from a cookbook, but didn’t have the right ingredients. By the time I was done, it was a completely different recipe.

    Nutmeg muffins:

    Makes 6 normal size muffins

    1 1/2 c flour
    1 1/2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp soda
    1/2 of a freshly grated nutmeg nut (key)
    3/4 c buttermilk
    3 TBS oil (or melted butter)
    2 TBS flax seed meal
    1/4 c agave syrup (I used dark)
    1 tsp vanilla

    Mix all dry. In another bowl mix all wet. Add wet to dry until just mixed. Bake 15 minutes at 400.
